Over the years, I have met with quite a number of web-developers from individual freelancers to companies which specialize in it. Every single 1 of them promises that they will develop a website which is so fantastic, so fabulous, so incredibly designed, that your customers/ visitors will be awed by it's beauty. My reply to them all is "Oh that's nice but so", and their usual responses are "So your potential clients will be impressed thus sales?". Sure! 1st impression is important and it does plays a role in converting prospects to sales but so what if the design is great when it doesn't even have any traffic to begin with. Haha how many people can I impress with just the designs alone, 3, 5 per month?!
A website is not meant just to showcase your products or services or just for the sake of creating an online presence. A website is meant to be your 24/7 salesman, marketeer, database miner, customer relation officer and all these should be run by it's own without much intervention from you or anyone. Website must have a viral marketing engine integrated in it and generates traffic by itself.
